A networking resource devoted to biological soil crusts and the researchers who study them. We will provide a means for international scientists to communicate, share their research, share important news and announcements, ask questions and find collaborators. We will also provide a space for informal writing on research, opinion, and ideas (now seeking posters!).

Why don't we have a video like this about biocrusts?

UNDERGROUND MARKET from The Ascender on Vimeo.

Watch this amazing video about carbon for phosphorous trading in mycorrhizal symbioses from the Kiers lab. Wouldn't this be a great way to illustrate photo- and hydrotaxis in Microcoleus, biocrust community development, N and dust fixation, etc?

  1. Wow, this video is great indeed. Okay, so who knows how to make such a thing?! I'd also love to see something similar about our BSCs.

  2. Yes! I like that it is half art, half education…it is not overbearing in its explanation, rather it presents sort of a puzzle to figure out. And it looks good while doing so.

Well, in a past life I was an art student…but I don't know how to make animated videos unfortunately.
